A desiccant air dryer works on the principle of adsorption, where moisture is absorbed from compressed air by a hygroscopic desiccant material like silica gel or activated alumina. Typically, a two-tower system alternates between a drying cycle and a regeneration cycle: one tower dries the incoming moist air, while the other is regenerated using heat or purge air to remove the accumulated moisture. This cycle continues, with the towers switching roles to ensure a continuous supply of dry compressed air.
